Kayatharu

Pronounced kayattāru

the name kayathar derived from the tamil word "Kasatharu" ...
Kasa, Kasappu means bitter;
Aaru means river;
kasatharu means a river with bitter water.
Veerapandia Kattabomman who fought againt the colonist rule was hanged in Kayathar.
A memorial was built for him here by Actor Sivaji Ganesan (who performed the the Kings role)
Kayathar is located on NH7 between thirunelveli and kovilpatti.
It is a tourism place, with the historical Veerapandia Kattabomman statue
